NHS First Response Service
The NHS First Response Service (FRS) supports people experiencing a mental health crisis. The First Response Service provides 24-hour access, seven days a week, 365 days a year, to mental health care, advice, support and treatment. By calling 111 and selecting option 2, you will be put through to a member of the FRS who will discuss your current mental health needs, and assess what further support may be necessary.
When you call NHS 111 and select option 2, a telecoach - a psychological wellbeing practitioner - will answer the call and assess your needs. They have knowledge about all the NHS services available to you, and can help direct you to the most appropriate service. They can make appointments for you, and can also refer you to a Sanctuary - a safe place run by the mental health charity Mind, offering short term support between 6pm and 1am.
